Zuiderzee

About this community centre

In the heart of the Zuiderzeewijk, Lelystad's oldest neighbourhood, you will find community centre Zuiderzee. A place where people from all backgrounds come together, because this neighbourhood brims with diversity and solidarity. On the edge of the Lelycentre, Zuiderzee is a central meeting place for young and old.

The community centre consists of two buildings:

• The children's centre at Middelgronden, with the schools Ichthus, De Vuurtoren and GO! Childcare.
• The building on Waddenlaan, where you will find community centre Zuiderzee, community centre De Joon and the sports hall of Sportbedrijf Lelystad.

What is there to do in Zuiderzee?

You can hire rooms here, take part in activities or simply pop in for a cup of coffee. Every two weeks, the Zuiderzee lunchroom opens its doors for a cosy get-together. Volunteers prepare delicious sandwiches, soup and salad. For a small fee, you can join us for a meal and catch up with neighbours.

Neighbourhood centre De Joon

In the same building, you will also find community centre De Joon. Since 1969, De Joon has been a household name in the neighbourhood: a place where everyone is welcome and allowed to be themselves. From children's craft afternoons to bingo, from neighbourhood parties to holidays for children: De Joon is bustling with activities for young and old. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers and committed local residents, De Joon is still a warm and social centre, supported by the neighbourhood and open to everyone.
